Organisation is not only the key to efficiency and success but it’s also the key to rest!

Think about every time you’ve tried to relax and had your mind clustered with things you need to get done or times you have procrastinated. Not only do you get nothing done but you feel just as tired when it’s time to work again.

If you’ve set high goals for yourself and have to balance work, family, study and other priorities and obligations you must be organised.

Here are some tips to help with organisation

Set aside an hour, get a diary, to do list, notes, calendar or anything that can help you structure your week. Plan your day which will include work hours, study hours, gym time and you can actually see the parts left over. Believe it or not this will actually allow you to have more free time. Get rid of those annoying tasks. Do the laundry, wash the dished, do call-backs or emails. Things that can be done at any time and quickly. You may not think about it but having these small tasks in the back of your mind are taking up valuable space which could be used for bigger tasks, resting or just having fun. You’d be surprised how much better your brain functions when you’re working in a clean environment with no minuscule tasks distracting you. Do one thing at a time and don’t procrastinate.

Now that you have freed up space in your mind think about your goals. If you don’t have them then it’s time to set new goals otherwise you are just spinning your wheels. You want to have a purpose for your actions not just be stuck in the rat race. If you don’t know what your goals are then what do you spend most of your leisure time doing? What are you passionate about? Think hard. Remember this is YOUR life. It may feel like we’ve gone off topic but a part of being organised is working towards what you really want and living up to your potential.

Often times we leave this up to our bosses or the organisation we work for. However when you have a task that only requires you to complete then it’s very easy to procrastinate or push it down the priority list. Be your own boss, create a deadline the reward yourself upon completion.
If you use these few steps you will not only be prolific and progress further but you’ll be happier, more energetic and free.
